Newsflash - Shayne and Rachel engaged!!!

Great News! Shayne and Rachel announce their engagement!!!! They are not doing the ring thing. Wedding in April! Woo Hoo!!! "Anne of Green Gables", Taryn got a new outfit from Auntie Anne and Thea got the book from Granny and Grandpa. Thea's rabbit, "Pippin", shows off his Christmas gifts. Thea knit the scarf and I knit the hat.

Have a Holly, Jolly Christmas

No, this isn't my tree. This is the tree at the Eaton Centre. It's enormous and covered in crystals. Aaron and Hart made a snowman during the first snowfall of the season. Notice the apple eyes. Thea and I checked out the Christmas windows at The Bay. Lovely. Thea, looking very sophisticated, at The Nutcracker. My little over-crowded tree. All the decorations are not even on. Thea has a collection of ornaments gathered from all of our outings to see The Nutcracker ballet over the years. She has 6 hanging on the tree. They are all girls. Aaron has a Nutcracker ornament and I have an egg. You can see three of Thea's decorations in this photo. I also have all the 12 Days of Christmas Eaton's ornaments. This year, the red bird is sitting at the the top of the tree.

Day 2 ..... Jury Duty Week

Making good progress on my two knitting projects this week as I am in the Juror Pool. Today is Day 2. Yesterday, Day 1, our panel was called up (along with 3 others) for a murder trial. A murder trial that was projected to last 8 WEEKS!. Fortunately, we had already booked a vacation so I was excused from that one. Whew! Today, my panel and another panel were called up - they were still picking jurors at the end of the day so that will continue tomorrow morning. My name was selected near the end so HOPEFULLY the jury will all be picked by the time it's my turn to be considered. This trial is supposed to be shorter than the one yesterday but I'm not sure if my vacation plans will save me this time. In the Juror Lounge I have been spending my time reading, knitting my Noro striped scarf and knitting the red sweater for my darling hubby. So far I have been able to bring my pointy, dangerous weapons (a.k.a. knitting needles) through security although I have been told tha...

Knitting and Party Outfits

First, inspired by Brooklyn Tweed's lovely striped Noro scarf, I have started knitting my own Noro striped scarf. Here's a photo of the work in progress. Second, in a wild and crazy mid-life crisis kind-of-moment, I purchased a wild and crazy (for me) party dress. Here's a picture of Hart and I off to Auntie Gloria's party. I felt I needed to do this before I turn 50 and while my weight was down. I AM planning on keeping the weight off. The secret to getting on a dress like this (which has a lining that you can't see) is to leave it on the hanger and "dive" up to the light. If you don't do this, you risk getting tangled in the lining. You also have to watch how you sit since you don't want to bend the sequins when you sit down. I can report that the party was wonderful, the food was great, the decor was beautiful and it was great to see people we haven't seen in a while.

Poor Mini

Mini and I were just sitting waiting for the light to change. When all of a sudden... It took a couple of hours of waiting until all the paperwork was finished and Mini and I could leave. Poor Mini will have to go get some bodywork done.

Halloween

The pumpkin. Design selected by Aaron, drawn on the pumpkin by Thea, and carved by Hart. Aaron gutted the pumpkin. Thea went as a mad scientist. Aaron went as a mummy. He was thrilled to win two (!!!) trophies at school for his costume. Auntie Anne, thank-you so much for sending the box of costumes. Hugs and kisses to you. Let's get a closer look at those trophies. Drats, he took the labels off them. He told me they were both for second place. One was for best costume and I forget what the other one was for. I wonder who one first place???

And now for some Sculpey creations...

My daughter really enjoys making things with Sculpey. Lately there's been a penguin theme. Here are few pictures. I believe one of the penguins is named Ducky. Before the penguin craze, she made a wonderful mini version of her doll Taryn. Here are some photos of mini Taryn and accessories. Sorry, one of the photos is a little blurry. She has also made a present for Auntie Anne. I don't know how well this one will travel so here's a picture in case it arrives in pieces. Should have cropped that one. Now the last item is something I made a couple of years ago when I was still trying to keep the tooth fairy fantasy alive. Her head is made of Sculpey, her body is a pencil, her dress is tissue paper and her wings are saran wrap. The plan was to crawl into the bedroom waving the tooth fairy above my head while I switched the tooth with money. It turned out to be a three handed job but fortunately the intended audience did not wake up. The tooth fairy used to have a li...
